Why I don’t work with anyone under 18 years of age? Please read the NYS laws on child actors to learn more. The link is in the comments. If, in the future, I worked with anyone under the age of 18, then I would use a talent agency (3rd Party) to handle the contract. Yes, exceptions exist for museums and schools. It does not work for my time and my insurance coverage. Also, the people I work with get producer status on many projects—consulting producer or associate producer status. That does not work for anyone under 18. I also only work with someone who can legally make a contract, work for for hire in the USA, or sign a release on their own behalf.

In my past conversations with NYS, I could not hire my child at the time because he was underage (that was many years ago). I could have done a workaround, but that’s beyond the scope of this post. If you send a request, remember that I submit my productions to a national market with a distributor. If you are on camera, you will be seen or potentially seen on a worldwide platform.

All my paperwork must be in order, or my productions would be rejected. I will need documentation from anyone working with my productions. Typically, documentaries do not pay for interviews. It is considered unethical. I do offer some stipends (from time to time) to cover the time of the person involved.
